Contact

One address reaches everything on this site — the finder, the catalogue behind it, and the person who maintains both: info@downto1.com.

There is no contact form, because a form would mean collecting and storing your details; plain mail keeps that between you and your own mail provider. There is no phone line and no counter to visit — DownTo1 is a small independent operation, and mail is read by someone who can actually act on it.

A factual error in the catalogue

The most useful mail we get. A wrong weight or price band, a specification that changed with a firmware release, a body or lens that has been discontinued, a mount listed incorrectly. Tell us which model and which figure, and a source if you have one — a manufacturer's spec page is ideal. Corrections are checked against the manufacturer's own figures and go in ahead of everything else.

A body or lens that should be covered

The catalogue is a curated field, not an exhaustive database, so gaps are deliberate as often as they are oversights — but new releases and quiet classics both get missed. Name the model and, more usefully, the kind of photographer it is the right answer for. That second part is what decides whether it can be scored sensibly against the rest of the field.

Requests to add a model you sell or make are welcome on exactly the same terms as anyone else's, with one thing said plainly: placement cannot be bought, and adding a model does not make it rank. See how the ranking is decided.

A data-protection request

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or objection under the GDPR — write to the same address and say which right you are exercising. The privacy policy is the formal document: it names the data controller, lists your rights in full, and gives the supervisory authority you can complain to. Worth reading first, because this site holds remarkably little about you — your answers never leave your browser.

A business enquiry

Retailer coverage and regional availability, press questions about the method behind the finder, or working together on a category. Say what you are proposing in the first paragraph; it saves us both a round trip.

What to expect

Mail is answered by a person, usually within a few working days. Corrections may be applied before you get a reply — the fix matters more than the acknowledgement. If a week passes with nothing, assume the message went astray rather than that it was ignored, and send it again.

Two things we cannot help with

Orders and deliveries. DownTo1 Cameras does not sell anything. If you bought from a retailer we linked to, that order, its payment and its delivery are between you and them — they will resolve it far faster than we can.

Personal buying advice by email. The finder exists precisely so the answer comes from your own constraints rather than a stranger's guess. Run the camera quest or the lens quest first — and if its answer looks wrong to you, that is a correction worth writing to us about, with the reasoning — that kind of mail is how the scoring gets better.
